Hickory Longbow Wood
American Hickory is my preferred back wood for higher poundage longbows. When carefully selected the pale cream sapwood sets the standard for the back wood of any longbow.
It’s straight grain can feature dark purple/brown flecks from time to time.
Brown (heartwood) Hickory can also feature as the core of a laminated longbow.
